ETABO receives further order from EnBW for the media-side connection of the ‘Fuel-Switch Heilbronn’ project

The overall ‘Fuel-Switch Heilbronn’ project marks a decisive step towards climate-friendly energy generation: the departure from coal-fired power generation and the decommissioning of units 5, 6 and 7.

The centrepiece of the project is a new Block 8, consisting of a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant with an output of approx. 675 MWel.

Following the successful construction of the cold condensate pipeline and the current construction of the district heating and gas pipeline in the Neckar culvert, a further milestone is now to follow: the cooling water connection for the new CCGT plant.
The new CCGT plant will be connected to the existing natural draught cooling tower of Block 7 for cooling. For this purpose, ETABO is installing a new underground cooling water pipeline made of GRP (DN2200), which will transport the cooling water safely and efficiently. At the interface to the existing steel pipe system (DN3000), the material transition from GRP to steel will then take place in the newly constructed transfer shaft structure.

ETABO is responsible for the complete engineering, execution planning and subsequent installation in the period from June to October 2025.

Our project manager Max D. and ETABO are delighted to continue the successful collaboration with EnBW. “This order confirms the trust placed in our expertise and our team.”
