ETABO builds electrode boiler plant at BASF Schwarzheide

The BASF site in Schwarzheide is undoubtedly one of the industrial lighthouses in the Lausitz region. In order to make the use of self-generated renewable energies even more efficient, BASF Schwarzheide GmbH is building a state-of-the-art 25 MW electric boiler plant there that can generate around 35 tonnes of process steam per hour.

BASF's production site in Lausitz and ETABO's System Projects East division in Berlin began working together with Basic Engineering on this pioneering project back in spring 2024. Following its successful completion as a result of close cooperation, we are delighted that BASF Schwarzheide GmbH has now also awarded ETABO the option to construct the plant.

Our scope of services includes the overall planning, construction and commissioning of all plant technology including the building (excluding concrete construction). Construction activities will start at the beginning of 2025 and the plant will be completed around 1 year later. Together with our project partners, we are currently working intensively on the detailed engineering and look forward to realising our plans on the construction site in Schwarzheide very soon.

This project marks another important step on the way to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for Schwarzheide as an industrial location.
